Dédale Asia Pacific's mission is to provide innovative, customised knowledge and advice in the areas of applied human factors, organisational and social psychology, training development and implementation, systemic safety investigation, and safety management systems, to enhance safety performance, efficiency and service delivery within client organisations. 


Our Core Competencies 

We achieve our mission by possessing and utilising the following core competencies:

  • Managing and coordinating consulting projects in the areas of human factors, organisational psychology, safety management and human behaviour to enhance individual competence, organisational effectiveness and operational safety

  • Designing effective applied human factors training programs in the areas of Crew Resource Management (CRM), Threat and Error Management (TEM), Human Factors Awareness (HFA), and Human Factors and Aviation Safety Investigation (HFASI) to enhance operational skills and behaviour 

  • Contributing professional human factors expertise to incident or accident investigations in the aviation, rail, mining and manufacturing sectors 

  • Designing and implementing effective systemic safety investigation and analysis methodologies and safety investigator training programs

  • Developing and producing a range of innovative safety training media, including educational materials, facilitator and participant handbooks, safety promotion videos (including "The Dryden Accident" (1992), "Safety Culture Evolution" (2000), "ASSIST" (2007) and various multi-media training aids

  • Selection of personnel for safety-critical roles in aviation and other domains

  • Selecting facilitators for interactive peer-delivered learning programs such as CRM, and conducting effective facilitation skill training programs

  • Evaluating and advising on the usability and human machine interface characteristics of existing and proposed technology

  • Delivering training courses, workshops and seminars in human factors investigation techniques and the principles of systemic accident causation

  • Evaluating and advising on organisational effectiveness with respect to key performance indicators including safety, efficiency and service delivery 

  • Undertaking a range of human resource management projects including psychological assessment of specialist personnel, selection system design and evaluation, job analysis, re-design and evaluation, and attitude evaluation

  • Communicating effectively and clearly with a wide range of clients across many national, organisational and professional cultures

  • Conducting applied human factors research projects, presenting findings at industry conferences, and publishing papers in professional books and journals.

  • Leading an Independent Review of the aviation fatigue rules for operators and pilots [CAO 48.1] on behalf of the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA), in collaboration with AVRES Aviation Research Consultants and Integrated Safety Support (ISS)

  • Independent Review of the Safety Management System (SMS) for Changi Airport Group (Singapore) with the late Dr Rob Lee AO

  • Development and supply of Crew Resource Management (CRM) training materials for all aviation elements of the Australian Defence Force

  • Development and implementation of a family of new generation CRM and applied human factors training programs for Singapore Airlines

  • Development of Human Factors Awareness training materials for all Air Crew (Flight Crew and Cabin Crew) at QANTAS Airways

  • Implementation of RRM / NTS training programs at V/Line, PN Coal and KiwiRail

  • Project concept and script development for the EUROCONTROL safety promotion films “Safety Culture Evolution” (2000) and “ASSIST” (2007)

  • Design and implementation of a Safety Culture Enhancement Program, and Safety Leadership and National Culture research for the Swedish Nuclear Power Industry

  • Contribution to the NSW Ministry of Transport Investigation and Final Report into the 2003 Waterfall rail disaster.
